Game Design

I am currently working on game design leveraging the Marble It Up platform within Unity. View my custom levels on the Steam Workshop for Marble It Up.

What is Marble It Up? How did you discover it?

Marble it Up is a racing game with a marble instead of a car. I found the game on the Apple App Store for iOS. I found that I was able to create custom levels by watching a YouTube Video. Then, I used STEAM to install Marble It Up and there I played custom levels. After playing some custom levels, I decided to create some of my own. To do that, I need to learn Unity.

Why did you decide to make custom levels?
It was just something I wanted to do.

What kind of custom levels did you make?

I almost always created race levels, not the puzzle and gem hunt levels. The favorite of my custom levels is the Fin as it includes a finale-like end.

What was the biggest challenge you encountered with making a custom level or learning Unity?

The biggest challenge I faced was exporting. My mentor Jack helped me to figure this out.

What was your biggest accomplishment or thing you’re most proud of figuring out during project?

I was most excited to see if my levels got on the front page of Steam where the most popular levels get showcased. It did!

Were there any mysteries that you solved while working on the project?

Yes. Once, I discovered that there was a texture not included in the Marble It Up Unity package. I basically looked through the whole supply of all the textures but when I tried applying all of them, the rainbow texture wasn’t there. So, Jack helped me figure this out by contacting other developers through the Steam forum. One developer sent Jack a document that included the names of textures. I suspected that if I duplicated and renamed a texture to rainbowGradientSolid which was one of the textures on the list, it would create the rainbow texture. And, that did happen!

How do you plan to use what you have figured out in this project in your future work?

I ended up using this knowledge in the three levels I have currently created for the Steam workshop. The levels I designed are named Fin, Gemania, and Crystal. There are more to come. Using my knowledge of Unity, I will create a game that will be the first-ever ERC project to be submitted to the app store.

UI Design

Design is key. It is powerful. You can use design to make people feel persuaded or happy or angry at the world for not being sustainable. ERC design allows you to do all of that. Our design components help you build apps that will change the world once again. Here you will find explorations in UI Kits components.

The ERC Color Palette

ERC Switches

Should be used in settings panels and for toggles.

ERC Navigation Bar

ERC App Icon Grid

Use the ERC App Icon Grid to create beautiful app icons by placing the symbol in the large circle and the outside rounded rectangle in the box and color it with an ERC color.
